The Vatican City is the smallest independent state in the world, based in Rome in Italy. The population of around 840 live in an area of approximately 110 acres. St Peter’s Basilica
This is the heart of the Vatican city and this is also known as the world’s largest Basilica of Christianity. Therefore, the total area is 186 meters of length and 46 meters of the center. In the main dome, the diameter is 42 meters large and 136 meter high. The capacity of this Basilica is 20,000 people can pray in here. In addition, inside of the basilica decorated by a ten thousand square meters of mosaics, which use for showing the meaning of the wall and floor. One of the famous artist in the Italian High Renaissance is Michelangelo who was a sculpture and painter, and he also made the finest work in sculpture as “Pieta” in his early age. Michelangelo’s pieta is now become part of the study of the Italian High Renaissance. This sculpture is located in this Basilica.

The Pieta is the masterpiece sculpture which was made by Michelangelo Buonarroti, and now Pieta is located inside of the St Peter's Basilica. Moreover, This statue was made from Carrara Marble. It is the first sculpture people can see when they enter to the Basilica.
