A Once In A Lifetime Celebration!

We would love to celebrate with you the 100th anniversary of the 3,000 Cherry Blossom trees bestowed by Japan and Tokyo to Washington DC in 1912. Come to visit the Distric from March 20th to April 27th and be part of the celebration that will unify the city and the nation in one place.

Facts about DC

1The White House was originally called the "President’s Palace" or the "President’s House." A Baltimore reporter once called it the "white house" in a newspaper article and the name caught on. Theodore Roosevelt made this the official name in 1901.

2The White House was being built while George Washington was in office, so he never actually lived there.

3 The District of Columbia was named after the great explorer Christopher Columbus.

4The National Gallery of Art is home to the Ginevra de Benci, the only Leonardo da Vinci painting in the Western Hemisphere.

5DC license plates read "Taxation without Representation."
DC residents are taxed with local and federal taxes, but do not have representation. President Bush, however, refused to use those on White House cars and limos.
