Lilac City
Officially, Spokane is nicknamed the “Lilac City” due to the flower that thrived there since the early 20th century. There is even a Lilac Garden located within Manito Park Gardens. Other gardens include Rose Hill, Duncan Garden, Perennial Garden, and Nishinomiya Japanese Garden. Within the 90 acre park there are plenty of beautiful flowers to be enjoyed throughout the entire year.
Spokane River
The Spokane River spans 111 miles! There will be plenty of fishing activities, for any interested anglers. A wide variety of fish can be caught ranging from rainbow trout to large and smallmouth bass! If the river doesn’t suit your fancy there’s several lakes to choose from!
Hiking in Spokane
There are literally hundreds of places to hike in Spokane Washington. One trail even stretches to over 37 miles in length! Hiking allows visitors to truly enjoy the vast wilderness with beautiful views and fresh air. Hiking also benefits one’s health! Hikers are treated with lower risks to types of cancer, including breast and colon. It increases bone density and improves cardio respiratory fitness.
